Hi Triode Thanks for your player.
I want to build a Squeezelite player on a raspberry, based on tinycore or microcore linux http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/board,57.0.html . These distros are only about 12 MB in size. The advantage is that the boot is very fast (10-15 sec), they are "read only" so no corruption of the CD-card even if the power is removed and it can live in RAM so no swap file is needed. I'm running it with a GUI now, but once it is all set-up my plan is to run without a GUI, and then it is even smaller (about 8 MB). I have got some help from a developer of the microcore for raspberry (bmarkus - thank you for that) - and I think we are nearly there. What works: Squeezelite can be started from the microcore. It is running fine and can be seen and controlled from the Squeezebox server (on another computer). I can start music from both local HDD as well as internet radio stations. Here we need help: The sound quality is very bad, something like the sound I had using the first version of Squeezelite when the output on the server was not set at 100. I have only used the audio jack - and here there is a constant loud stuttering sound, but behind this sound you can hear the music served from the Squeezebox server. I have attached the log file - I hope that someone (Triode :-) ) will have a look. Steen I really hope someone will help on this because I think that the combination of Squeezelite and the small microcore linux will allow us to make a good substitute for a Duet receiver (I mean it is booting really fast and the microcore is developed as an embedded linux, so you can just pull the power plug if you want without any risk of damage to your Squeezelite player ) +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: squez3.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=14200| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ sbp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37237 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97046 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
