No. It is just a matter or doing a bit-for-bit copy of the image to the
physical media. I often bootstrap CF-card linux stuff on my mac (which
has a screen w/ CF reader), I am unsure of which program is ok for doing
the same on Windows but surely you don't need a linux machine to write
the card with linux on it.
