John - thanks for the answer. That is great news. I'm the one that started this question in the other thread. Sorry if I sparked this spiraling conversation on HDD vs. SSD and the power requirements, but the info provided was very helpful to understand. Thanks Clive! I too was hoping to stick a 2TB 2.5in HDD in the enclosure and use it as an all in one portable solution on the road. I guess we will just have to test it out and see if it can work. WD makes a 2TB Passport that powers off USB only. http://www.amazon.com/Passport-Portable-External-Storage-WDBY8L0020BBK-NESN/dp/B005HMKKH4 It might be an option also to stick inside the enclosure and connect to one of the internal USB connections that John mentioned. I wonder if that pulls too much power as Clive suggested was possible on boot. I may try to test one of those on my WB Dual when I have some free time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mikes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2427 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98544 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
