John - thanks for the answer.  That is great news.  

I'm the one that started this question in the other thread.  Sorry if I
sparked this spiraling conversation on HDD vs. SSD and the power
requirements, but the info provided was very helpful to understand.

I too was hoping to stick a 2TB  2.5in HDD in the enclosure and use it
as an all in one portable solution on the road.  I guess we will just
have to test it out and see if it can work.  WD makes a 2TB Passport
that powers off USB only.

It might be an option also to stick inside the enclosure and connect to
one of the internal USB connections that John mentioned.  I wonder if
that pulls too much power as Clive suggested was possible on boot.  I
may try to test one of those on my WB Dual when I have some free time.
