If a dts stream is futzed with in anyway it will output the sound you're hearing. As I said, in my previous experience with linux and dealing with audio, the only way to have bit perfect sound was to set the volume to 100% that way it's just the stream being passed. If setting volume to 100 doesn't solve that, something else is happening. If you (or someone else) figure out what that is, I'd be very interested in knowing.
