If network traffic is permitted on other programs, then power savings is
not the issue.   If an adapter is in power save, it doesn't respond to
any traffic.

Does LMS show that track time is elapsing on the player?

Probably the only way to really see what is going on is to turn on
squeezelite debugging on and save the logs to a local hard disk (or big
sd card partition).   You also might want to listen on the LMS CLi to
see what the server is sending to the player.
