Why do you need a server PC for PiCorePlayer? I have Squeezeplug running on another Pi that serves as both server and player in another room. Works perfectly with Spotify and other streaming Services (I use Wimp HiFi) , also works with YouTube plugin and everything. I don't have any local music, but if I did I'd use a USB HDD, either right on the Pi or attached to my Router. I also have a NAS that I could use, but that's just me... ;-)
