One other thing my friend ran into is that LMS clears its database when
the scanner is running and the wandboard does not have a network
connection.
I know one would say, why are you running LMS without a network but I
also believe that LMS or the scanner should be able to recognize that it
has no network and then just exit the scanning process. This would
prevent LMS from deleting its database in such cases.

A bit of background on how the issue is triggered:
All the audio components in the rack are powered by a common switch so
that my friend turns off all the equipment when he is not listening to
music. I found out that he also powers off a small switch in that same
rack. This is a switch where the wandboard is connected to. Since the
wandboard still has no power button I told my friend to leave the
wandboard running 24/7. I was unaware of the fact that there was a small
switch hidden in his audio rack. The scanner is set to scan at 9 am in
the morning. Of course, at that time he is not listening to music so the
whole audio rack is still powered off, leaving the wandboard without a
network. The scanner kicks in, doesn't find the music files and starts
to delete them from its database. In the evening, my friend powers up
the system and wants to listen to music only to find out that LMS has an
empty database.

I'm pretty sure this is one of the typical user cases that we are likely
to run into when the CS player is available to the masses. It clearly
shows that the wandboard needs an easy way to power down (power switch
of some kind) and also an attention to LMS's scanner, it should check
the status of the network interface while scanning music; exit the
scanner when interface is down.
