Hi Steen, thanks for the response. I understand your concerns and realise the key issue is the ability to run microcore on the BBB.
I have been experimenting with a few different players in the last 6 months. Right now I have a Wandboard running CSOS, a RPI running Picoreplayer with ES9023 I2S attached and a Beaglebone black also with I2S attached ES9023 running the Botic drivers that JackofAll mentions under Debian/Squeezelite. My preference in terms of the software is Picoreplayer because of its simplicity, robustness and speed to boot. My preference for Picoreplayer over CSOS is based on my usage which is simply for a basic Squeezelite player whereas CSOS has greater functionality. So maybe a cutdown, player only version of CSOS is the answer if Picoreplayer remains exclusively RPi. In terms of DACs working with the BBB I have trier bother USB and I2S attached ES9023 but I know others using the Botic drivers have user ES9018 DACS. As I understand it the intention is that the drivers will be as generic as possible and cover most DACS that require a I2S input tho I understand there are flavours of I2S! I will look into trying microcore on my BBB in the next few days and report the results. Also thanks for the update to get IQaudIO support.
