I may be mis-recalling, but I think you hear a paired bleep. IF it's actually paired, then when you switch the Boom back on then there's definitely two short bleeps as the connection becomes active. The only way I got the Boom to pair in F18 was to use the Gentoo tip I referenced earlier - even that was hit and miss. What a pain!
