After all the work you guys put into this.... :( I really wish we'd have been able to do something together now. I never thought CSOS would end up like this.. Unfortunately, your hardware/software platform wasn't quite the perfect fit for us (although I have very much regretted trying to go it alone on the hardware side on a few occasions over the last few months!) but I had always hoped that once we got things off the ground we could support CSOS somehow as a lot of good things have grown out of that project.
Publishing code under GPL always risks commercial operators making a quick buck from your work, but often with open-sourcing the benefits of community development far outweigh this risk. However, the turn of events this project has experienced saddens me considerably. I am glad to see that Adrian is now beavering away seemingly undeterred with the Arch on Squeeze project. Hopefully this along with the likes of picoplayer and Daphile will continue to breathe life into the Squeezebox code. With the proliferation of multi-room audio systems, none as which are still as feature rich as squeeze, you do have to wonder just how ahead of the curve the slimdevices guys were. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101648 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
