This intrigues me, on my pCP Pi2 with IQAudio DAC and Pi Display the VU
meters frequently slam up against the 3+dB.

So I dug out my old Denon Audio Technical CD and ripped 2 tracks of 0dB
1001Hz Sine Wave, Left Channel then Right channel. I have attached these
as a zip file. Be very careful of them, make sure that the amp is turned
down low if you play them.

You should be able to accurately measure the output on the VU meters on
the Pi Display and maybe there is an ALSA setting that should be made or
else the volume on the server settings/player.

I have not played the tracks yet, I will later today and will compare
the VU screen on a touch and the pCP.
