Okay. I think I figured it out. I moved the unit away from a dense "nest" of electronics including charging tablets, cell phones, a Boom, a laptop, and a wireless home phone. Away from that swarm of electromagnetic radiation, the ghostly controller appears to have moved on. Perhaps an enclosure with shielding might eliminate this problem.
