I reported success prematurely. After a bit more time, the "ghost in the machine" returned. It seems to have a preference for internet radio. There were frequent disconnects also. The disconnects suggested to me a Wi-Fi problem. I changed the channel on my router a few times without really changing the behavior of the Pi Touchscreen. I then changed the Wi-Fi dongle out for another and the device seems much more stable, although it still randomly (?) will switch back and forth between the Now Playing screen and the screen touched before it. I can live with that. There are no further random disconnects. What would I be doing if I didn't have this thing to tinker with on a rainy Sunday in Austin?
