Jim, I don't have a USB DAC like you're asking for but maybe this is
something to consider. I too was on the look out for some casing for the
RPI with display. I find that the RPI is positioned very awkward on the
touch screen; the RPI is positioned with its connectors on the side but
without leaving enough room to plug in normal USB and or Ethernet
cables. So I did a first prototype where I moved the RPI to the left
side as much as possible. Below are some pictures of that attempt. I'm
not completely happy with it yet and I'm still looking at ways to
improved it. But it might give you an idea of what is possible by using
simple pvc. You can build your own "case" with that. As you can see, the
"case" doesn't really need side panels if you can put a pvc panel on top
of the electronics close enough against the electronics. (hope I'm
making sense here).
