No sweat Clive, I like living on the edge :D And I enjoy some sarcasm from time to time :D The issue is that there is no more sound. From time to time there is a very short burst. The VU's are no longer moving. The issue goes away when Squeezelite is rebooted. I guess I should mention that the RPI is connected to an M-DAC (USB 1.1).
