Jem, I hardly ever sync but I know that with Logitech OEM players that if a Touch is synced with, say a Boom, the files played, regardless if hi res on the Touch will be at the max rate for the Boom.
If this is default for NON Logitech players I don't know, but having different dacs with different playback capabilities or settings may help towards the "ghost in the machine".
