I'm trying to understand the implications of this. I found I had to add
the '-t 0' option to pigpiod, to switch it to PWM mode, otherwise the
sound did not work. So by implication this board uses PCM for audio,
and PWM for backlight control. So does this mean that trying to also
use PWM for pigpiod is what could be causing the possible sluggishness
in pCP's Squeezelite page and the problems that M-H and Grumpy Bob seem
to be experiencing?

These problems were apparent before the skin and other applets were
adapted to control the backlight, so presumably it's just the fact that
the board uses PWM for the backlight that may be the issue - it doesn't
matter whether we attempt to actually adjust the backlight?

If this is the case, is there a possibility to make pigpiod more
compatible with this board, perhaps by reducing the polling frequency
(in case it's not obvious, I'm on dodgy ground here, so I'm just
guessing).
