Nothing - Jivelite only interacts with the brightness control if you attempt to change the brightness. Actually, that's not quite correct - on first boot it attempts to set the display to maximum brightness, and whenever you reboot or restart Jivelite it attempts to restore the previous brightness. But between those calls, the brightness control isn't doing anything. I believe that if there's any implication, it exists simply because the board is expecting to control the backlight by PWM. But I'm not at all convinced that this is the issue. I have just run through my complete installation process on a 3A+, using the '3W amp' pirate board. It's absolutely flawless - there's no sluggishness in the pCP web interface, and it reliably shows the HiFiBerry as the installed sound device. I have it running in perfect sync with my 'line out' version running on the Zero W.
