Man, am I behind the times!. I have two version 4 picore lms on 3B+'s, one home and one is in a currently closed cabin, and have deployed 2 additional similar units to friends who are not in the area. All use a USB HDD for the library. The hardware is identical. The file structure of the HDD is identical.
Is there any reason that I can't prepare and test 4 new Micro SD's with version 6 on my local 3B+, then, just deploy the cards to other systems? Plug and play so to speak? It seems to make sense (to me) that I could do this, but I just want to make sure there isn't a "gotcha" that I am not aware of, something hardware specific.
