Well, I don't use pCP, and I don't know what mount options your remote file system would have. I have found, sometimes, that interpretation of file names can depend on character set/utf8 options passed at time of mounting, as well as the current user locale. And perhaps even the LMS locale/language setting. So it is just a long shot that there may be some character set set up issue that you are encountering as a result of subtle set up differences between your pi3 and pi4. But I'm not sure why that would completely miss files.
