Well, I don't know which is your first system, nor what it would be

I suppose you have the same version of LMS on both ? Another potential
source of different behaviour.

Reference your other post in another place, 'a acute' is part of ISO
8859-1/Windows 1252, i.e. a single 8 bit character, as well as being a
single character in unicode (if you want it to be). 'r caron' is not in
ISO 8859-1/Windows 1252, although it is in ISO 8859-2.

I guess if you have a directory/folder carrying such a name, then it,
and its contents, might be skipped altogether.
