Hi Jim
Just configure the pCP with a release version of LMS http://downloads.slimdevices.com/LogitechMediaServer_v8.1.1/ This will mean fewer updates (if any). You can confirm this setting on the pCP LMS tab Prepare the configuration for the attachment of a usb drive, but let him finish of the process. This will avoid the confusion of your drive having to be deleted. I don't think a static IP is really necessary, but............... Rather that give the pi a static IP, let you friend either reserve the IP in his router or utilise the facility via the pCP "Beta functions" on the Main Page. If the former, google his router to find the procedure and talk him through on the 'phone. Updating music files on the usb drive is simply done done by stopping the pi, unplugging the drive and connecting to his computer. If I need to help over the phone I set up a similar configuration and go through it at the same time. I have saved a few missed errors for myself :o:o by doing this. Make a back up of the sd card before you send everything off ronnie If you are using a large sd card, consider expanding the third partition using gparted (it does not have to be more than a couple of Gb I would guess). This would help keep the size of a backup image down if you use Win 32 https://win32diskimager.download/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113774 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
