I have seen various discussions and remarks related to pCP and security on the boards here. My impression is that installing updates is one of the very few (and very limited) potential security risks. So maybe a good strategy would be to prepare an SD that is fully functional and then just don't do any updates ever, unless it's needed to address a bug or an issue that affects your user. I think that would be the most stable version, it does a clean reboot every time it powers up. Also, setting a static IP on the router in stead of pCP would mean that in principle your friend would never ever have to make any changes in the pCP settings. And probably the easiest is to ship the Pi with a fully configured USB stick (move the LMS files there as well) so your friend only needs to copy the music files in the right directory.. If you choose that setup you could even consider shipping a backup SD card and a backup USB stick at the same time... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jeroen2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70418 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113774 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
