Just for closure, I returned a few days ago from holiday to find the replacement Pi from PiHut (who handled the exchange with speed and minimal fuss), booted it up with the previously configured SD card, and all seems well and stable. It has been playing without issue for three or four days now, so I think we're home. Thanks for all the patience and help in getting there. You're all great.
