I'll give you my opinion. Buy a less expensive G3 upgrade. It doesn't
make sense to spend too much if we don't know how much longer we'll be
able to use our current machines. Prices will come down for the faster,
more expensive upgrades anyway. Right now you can get a Powerlogix G3
400 w/ 1 Mb cache for $119 (or close) from OWC. That's a good deal. I
have their 350/512 card and it has worked very well running at over 400
Mhz. The software works well in OS 9 and Rempel's software from OWC
works well with it too. The other option is to spend almost twice that
amount for an xlr8 zif card with a replaceable/ upgradeable processor.
OWC sells a good selection. Sonnet is coming out with an 800 Mhz G4 card
next month for $400. I'm sure others will chime in with their opinions.
I'm running OS 10.1.5 with my G3 card and a number of people on this
list and the SuperMac list have a similar setup (300- 400 Mhz G3s) that
work well.
You will need a separate partition for OS 9.1, possibly another for
Classic (9.2). At the very least you need 2Gigs for OS X, but better to
have more. I

Go to the OWC website:

It's a good idea to print out ALL the instructions, because you
obviously won't be able to consult them otherwise as you go with one
computer...
Best of luck-
