In shopping for 128mb dimms I saw that some 128mb dimms were unsuitable for
G3/G4 upgrades. Below is a copy of a reply that offers "G3/G4 upgrade
compatible" memory, stating it needs a 'special' buffer chip. It's more than
twice as expensive as the cheapest 128mb dimms. Is it really necessary to buy
'special' memory for G3/G4 upgraded machines? (I have a 7500/G3 300).
If you're using G3/G4 upgrade that's working flawlessly with 128mb dimms, I'd
be interested in hearing what type (edo/fpm, 2k/4k, buffered/un) and where it
can be bought inexpensively. Also, if you have have bad experiences, what
should I avoid? (I've already got two 128mb edo/4k/buffered and they work OK,
but seem to have occasional memory related crashes, and I have my doubts
about them, which is why I'm asking) Thanks! Kris Tilford
