Sven, Some of the info you are getting is good and some is flat wrong.
Let me see if I remember the details.
Your installing 10.2...this requires 2gb min for the install. It
doesn't fill this drive but needs the space to do the install. The Twin
turbo ixmicro card works fine for OSX and doesn't require any drivers
for OSX. In fact while it will redraw screens faster with drivers in OS
8/9 it will work fine with no drivers there also. Many people sending
ideas fail to realize the 9500 doesn't have built in video just PCI
video cards.
Formating of the drive is done in OS 9 before you do the install of OSX.
FWB and most other software will not work. Don't bother to try it.
Apple drive setup (use the newest) and Intech's Hard drive speedtools
are the only ones known to work. Do not waste your time looking for the
old Apple SCSI drive setup. The current version will format more drives
then the old version and will have less problems with OSX. There are
only a very few drives that drive setup won't format.
A firewire drive will not boot from an old world Mac like you have
sorry. You need a 2 gb or larger SCSI drive or an IDE 2 gb or larger
drive hooked to a Mac ATA PCI card. Hope this helps Will S
