I had this on my 9500/10.2.6 setup as well. I actually timed it and found
that I would lose sound from all sources after about half an hour. Even if
the system was streaming mp3's when this time was reached, the audio on the
receiving system would get cut off as well. As it was a reoccurring effect,
I eventually traced it to the system settings relating to the power-saving
preferences I had. I found that if I set the System sleep setting to
'never', the sound would continue 'normally' without any cutoffs. Except for
iTunes, I still have to adjust the volume via external speakers for any
system sounds/alerts. The volume for iTunes can be adjusted normally from
within the program. The sleep settings for the Display and hard drive don't
seem to affect the audio, so I left the as I had them before.
Check into that and see if that helps you out.
