Ryan of XPFacto fame has at long last released XPFacto 3.0a6 ! It supports installing Panther on Apple 7300-9600 and Friends ( meaning clones based on these models which includes the Umax S900/J700)
I just downloaded 3.0a7 and gave it a try. It won't boot my 10.3 Install CD, in fact I can't even get XPF 2.2.5 to boot my 10.2 install CD, even thought I'm already running 10.2.6?
Reading the "Getting a 7600 to boot" thread on the XPF forums, Ryan says that the target drive should not be initialized using the OS X disk utility. I've got a 36 gig IBM SCSI drive that I partitioned and formatted using OS X, is this preventing the CD from booting? I've told XPF (both 2.2.5 and 3.0a7) to Install OS X to a partition on the 36 gig drive. It copies the files and extensions, and when it re-boots, it tries the CD but then boots into 9.2.2. I know my IDE CD/RW drive is bootable, because I installed 10.2 with it and XPF 2.something.
Do I need to re-partition this drive using OS 9 drive setup? Or will a re-format be enough?
Dan
