I use translucent terminal windows all over the place, so I can watch stuff
going on behind them, and the difference was phenomenal. I also noticed that
menus seemed to respond faster.

On the Powersurge the native video is a lot faster than the Rage
128 for anything that doesn't use OpenGL: older games and video are
a lot better taking advantage of the faster system bus instead of
going out over the horrible PCI bridge in the Powersurge motherboards.

On the Rev A Beige, I agree. But I used the native video in my 7500 as
often as the Rage 128.
