How does one distinguish which version a machine is? I don't know what revision mine is.

Go to Apple System Profiler and look for the ROM information of your Mac:

$77D.40F2 = Rev A
$77D.45F1 = Rev B
$77D.45F2 = Rev C

... and secondly: I'm in the UK, as is indicated by my quoting prices in � sterling. I can't get cheap kit from the US - even if I got a friend over there to buy it for me, once shipping and tax is added, it isn't cheap any more.
