I prefer using reply-all with lists, but not for other things. I think
reply-all gets abusive when it does not come from a list like this one.
I once sent one of those self-survey emails (favorite this and that) to
several family members. One annoying in-lay decided to use reply-all
and sent everyone from my grandma to my in-laws on the other side of the
family information about his body piercings and. . . certain. . . "toys"
he liked to use. He used reply-all intentionally to insult as many
people as he could. I didn't much enjoy the email, but I'm pretty sure
my grandma found it even less enjoyable. Now I use bcc for family and
friends, but that's beside the point. I think reply-all is for official
mail lists, not for my default replying method overall.
