Hello Chris, Edmond and Realsoft,
I'm not sure Edmond and I have the same purpose in mind, but for a precise
perspective match between a photo and a 3d object the analytic plane may not
be the best choice. I've done a lot of perspective matching lately and found
that size and aspect ratio of both the camera view, the backdrop image and
the rendered result can be altered on different locations in RS3D.
So far I have found:
- The aspect ratio of the backdrop image can be set under Select
Window/Images/Image Property window.
- Under View Properties/Draw tab there is a Fix Aspect option for the
backdrop image.
- Under View Properties/Camera tab the image aspect can be set, fixed or
unfixed.
- The Camera/Property Window/Spec tab has an option to set the aspect ratio
of the film/image.
- And finally under File/Render/Resolution the aspect ratio can be set,
again fixed or unfixed.
Allthough I do understand the meaning of each of these settings it is not
clear to me, and probably not to Edmond, if- and how these settings
cooperate. It would be nice if someone, maybe Realsoft, could explain how
these settings relate to each other and how they were meant to be used.
Experiments on my side with aspect ratio settings have lead to quite a few
program crashes.
My work environment consists of one fixed viewwindow for modelling and a
floating viewwindow for camera tracking. Crashes occur definately when the
floating viewwindow gets resized.
Regards,
Frank Bueters
