this is an aliasing problem. I got around it setting the nurbs to
"scanline" and not to "Ray TracE". Scanline hair won't cast shadows. To
get around this problem I copied the whole bunch of hair and set it "Ray
Trace" and set the thickness of this curves higher so that it won't have
this aliasing prob. Afterwards I set the thick "Ray Trace" curves rt
invisible. So the scanline hair will be visible and the "Ray Trace" hair
rt invisible but casting the shadows. You can set the count of the thick
hair less in the interpolator.
