Thanks for the replies.  I tried Matthias' suggestion first as it is the 
easiest and I discovered I don't get the problem using RS 5SE on Windows 
- I can zoom in on nurbs down to .001mm with no problem.  It may be a 
linux problem - I'll investigate more and let you know.
