It is pretty straightforward - do some cool stuff, get the respect of the current comitters, and sooner or later someone will suggest that you get commit rights. The comitters then decide, and you are in (or not).

New directions are usually discussed openly on the dev-list to avoid wasting valuable efforts, and feedback is welcome by anybody, committer or not.

Formally, magnolia organization has the final say on all things magnolia.


and who runs/owns Magnolia organization? The committers? Or are committers becoming members at some points?
Are there any bylaws?
