Hey there Jason :

Thanks very much . Don't think I'll stay though . Not right now anyway . I have
too much on my plate and not much time for anything else . Maybe later , once
V8 is released . I may upgrade from V6 andtry it out .
I hate learning new S/W but I have been meaning to teach myself the latest
Blender . Ton's ofinstructional material out there now and I think a guy could
get up to speed in no time if he
wanted to . I installed it years ago just to try out the Fluid dynamics module
and must say thatI was very impressed with the accuracy of the sims . Very easy
to set them up too .
Blender even output those fluid mesh objects as .obj etc , but some of us
tried to find a way to have
RS automatically load a new .obj (or the next .obj for the anim sequence) so
that we could thenrender them in an RS animation (that would have been very
cool) ... but no luck .
Too bad . I always said that Blender could have been an awesome plugin for RS
, and had this simpleimport pipeline been established , it may have been a good
start IMHO . Maybe one day .

May have been possible with RPL at one time , but ... It is possible of
course to load materials in this
way ( 0001.png , 0002.png , 0003.png etc etc) but loading objects the same way
was never included in RS
or even a consideration , as far as I know . i/o was never part of the main RS
plan for world domination .

Also , I would love to try out LuxRender with Blender , but now that will mean
a new Dual/Quad mother-board etc etc etc in order to make up for the slower
rendering , especially at 1920 x 1080 Rez . Should get
a new monitor also (still on a big CRT) . We'll have to see , I guess .

Ah , good to know that they have the right man on that job ! I assumed easier ,
so very glad to hear
that it is indeed the case . Looking forward to at least trying the demo
(upgrade is cheap though).
 > I will post some examples when Vesa and Juha give me clearance.
Awesome ! That should be interesting . I had been checking the List Archives
from time-2-time butnow with the new list address I'm guessing we will be back
to going without that luxury , once again . user list archives

No 3D I'm afraid , but would
be constantly blown away with the incredible use of CGi in TV commercials .
Mind boggling stuff going on
and that's just the tip of the iceberg to come ! Saw a couple 3D-Stereo movies
too , which I'm a big fan of .

However , I did some experiments with RS and a Leica Total Station . Have a
friend who buys/sells/leases/rents Leica's and Nikons and Wild N3's and Wild
T-2/2000 Theodolites and my job for him is to put themthrough their paces
whenever he gets a new one or needs one re-calibrated again from a lease return
.

He has a Reflectorless Leica that I shot some objects with . Basically used it
as a 3D scanner , but the objectwas 30 meters away . Total experiment but I
love that stuff . My buddy said "no way" but sure enough ...

Imported the data into RS via the Leica SD memory card . Flipped/multiplied
the X/Y/Z coordinates arounda few times until they began to finally make sense
, had RS construct lines , then a mesh , then just renderedit out . Bingo ! It
really worked very well and looked great in OpenGL too .

Did several 3D-Stereo tests as well, of some of my crazy Real3D algorithmic
renderings . Excellent results also .This is where 3D-Stereo really can help
with the visualization process . Suddenly all those 2D shapes had depthtoo ,
and when I viewed them on my 1080P HD TV I was just completely blown away .
They looked so real , as ifthose objects were actually sitting there inside my
TV (some looked to be outside the TV) .

This is why NASA uses Stereo3D cameras on all their Mars robots and space
exploration vehicles . Some of
NASA's red/blue Stereo3D images are just fantastic , and when viewed on an HD
TV it is really mind blowing ,
in my opinion anyway .

Re-did some older D1 rendering projects for 1080/P , H.264 , just to see the
difference and the difference isreally worth the effort . My LG Scarlett is a
few years old now but still looks awesome and older RS rendering
projects never looked better . Technology ? Wow ! Us creators need it
desperately , and the more the merrier .

I'll try and dig something out - upload and post a link this week for anyone
on HD to check out .

Sorry for the long mail ,
Cheers & best of luck with your works !

of course , fellow RS3D Gi/VSL/SDS/ envelope-pusher . Cheers (and still the
best wedding photo we've ever seen , of course [with Veku's being a close
second]) ! Keep The Faith !gc
