I've tested the patch in the JIRA Issua (CASTOR-2562), it works. I've also implemented my suggestion of how to handle things in the future taking care of backwards compatibility as mentioned by Werner. Given his remarks I don't think the first patch in the issue should be used (I agree with Werner here).
