here's a short summary of the opinions given by now. It represents my
understanding of the statements, please correct it if I got something
wrong. Please note that this is not an official vote thread.
1. Just release, add the known issues to the release notes.

2. Move Kupu to the contributions area, release without Kupu.

I'd summarize it like this:
* Move Kupu to the contributions area, release without Kupu
* Add a document describing the editor situation
