Well, if my wish came true, I would upgrade my current
semi-production/semi-development system a great deal. I have found with
Asgard, my system resources get sucked into a fairly abyssmal state.
However, considering this is running on a 133 Pentium with 32 MB of RAM, it
doesn't do half bad.

Regarding OS: If you want a solid Linux distro, I suggest Mandrake 7.2.
While I have tried several Linux distro's, the current version of Mandrake
is very solid. Mandrake also has a corporate distro, which looks very clean,
but I have not tried it. I have been staying away from Redhat since 6.2, the
last decent RedHat was 5. Debian and SuSe are also excellent, but better
suited to Linux guru's. I sometimes like to be able to grab a quick RPM, and
Mandrake has done well with updates on 7.2.

Upgrading Midgard: I went from 1.2 through every beta in between (1.3's
included) to arrive at 1.4 final. It didn't like what it saw, but the
Midgard guys really know their stuff. I got a couple tips and I saved myself
hours of cutting and pasting. I am sure any problems could be quickly
resolved, though a convert from 1.2 to 1.4 would actually be more
straightforward than mine.

Hope some/all helps,
Fred Hirsch
