I should add to this that I never install Midgard from RPM. This is really
not a smart way to install any version of PHP, as there are far too many
variables to consider. In fact, its probably best to make sure that the
Apache, MySQL (or whatever DB) are all done from scratch. I have found on
many various Linux versions that MySQL by itself is often compiled without
crypt, or with odd thread config variables. This often renders it useless to
PHP. Apache is not so bad, but compiling Apache gives a Midgard installer
much greater insight into the workings of their system. I would recommend it
to any system admin considering Apache/Midgard/PHP as an excellent learning
exercise.
