Okay, i have tried with many problems and found only one usable solution.
First: installing the required libraries using debian packages makes
no sense, cause PHP configure will not use them.
I had to install all libraries for the modules like DOM, Imap or GD
manually and then configure PHP 4.0.6. This worked okay for me.
