There's a feature in Eclipse install, which recognizes this dependency on EMF, and automatically installs it as a prerequisite, if needed. But people often disable this feature on the install page, by unchecking the box that says "Contact all update sites during install to find required software", because this slows down the install, I think. -Marshall
