Hi,

I just revisited the multi-column specification for the list box/combo box and had a thought which may be of use.

First as I have mentioned before the odt files currently don't open in Internet Explorer in the same way as sxw files currently do using the activex control. As a user I get the option to save the file and the file then has the extension odt changed to zip.  I suspect the server has to have one of the mime types changed (just guessing).

To the suggestion.

When the contents of the list/combo box is using the "List entries" and is thus a "Value List", the user does not have an option to set up column headings.

I would like to suggest when the "Value List" option is used the user is optionally allowed to enter the first values as column headings.

- This would provide users with increased information when they select the drop down box making it easier to determine what each column related to.

- This would also make the "Value List" and the other list types (Table, Query, SQL, SQL (native), but not Tablefields ) work in a similar fashion which may make it easier for users.

The above is the basic suggestion.

The idea could be extended slightly to include all list types including the Tablefields.

- Column heads not selected

Value list shows values as entered
Table, Query, SQL, SQL (native) shows values from data source
Tablefields shows list of fields

- Column heads selected

Value list take first value/s to be column headings
Table, Query, SQL, SQL (native) use field names as column headings
Tablefields has column heading value of "Field names"

This means all list types are displayed in a consistent manner.

I hope the suggestion is of assistance. There may be some obvious reason in OpenOffice.org this would not work, but I thought I would put forward the suggestion.

Kelvin Eldridge
