Hi Frank,
I'm missing the bug number here ;)
Guess I must have fallen asleep while waiting for the mailmerge to
finish ;-)
Seriously, I'll collate some info from other users as well, because this
has been a relatively frequent reproach made on the French n-l users
list. There's even a RFE been filed to bring back the old mailmerge /
Address Sticker wizards
As a start, this looks relevant. The OP even mentions that it is "slow".
http://sw.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?listName=issues&msgNo=122621
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=48059
which was listed as the original issue, but this doesn't mention
slowness / performance.
Maybe I'll open a new issue about performance, mentioning Issue 59276,
and confirming the performance problem. The sample data is also
available in this issue.
Sorry, but this is nonsense. When you do a mail merge based on a MySQL
table, *no* Java is involved at all. As far as Base is concerned, Java
is used for certain auto pilots (*not* the mail merge AP), and for the
HSQLDB backend. If you don't use both, you won't ever start the JVM.
Well that put me straight then ;-)
Am I then wrong in assuming that you can not set up a database document
without Java, and that without a database document created beforehand
you can not do a mail merge using the wizard even if you are using a
mysql db ?
Just remembered that you're off on holiday, so you probably won't read
this until you get back. Well anyway, have a "guter Umzug", see you back
here no doubt afterwards ;-)
bye,
Alex
