If I untherstood correctly, this problem is related to the Debian based
version of OOo. I myself use Debian also, but I installed OOo from the
"official" sources, not from Debian. I never used mdb files, but there
are other issues also with the Debian distribution of OOo, as for
example Java ...
Hope this helps!

Hello Swarup,
I am trying to "connect to an existing database" using OO 2.3 Base
(OS=Linux Ubuntu). The existing database is an MSA database in my
windows partition.
Debian-based distributions contained an experimental Linux-driver for
.mdb files, but this driver has been removed in their 2.3 version.
Which, as sorry as this might be, is correct as the driver was pretty
flawed and effectively a danger to your data.
But I went through the whole process of learning how to do the import in
OO 2.2. And when in the end there was a problem with the date field and
import wizard, and a few other bugs, then I was recommended on the
[dba-dev] list to upgrade to OO 2.3 where these things have been fixed.
The entire purpose of my being recommended to upgrade to OO 2.3 was for
being able to better import my MSA files. So now if this "experimental
Linux-driver for .mdb files" is no longer there, then how will I do the
import?
Is there perhaps some better way to do it in 2.3, since this
experimental file has been removed?
Thanks,
Swarup
