oooooooooooooooopsSorry my error. Yes I did just use the report wizard. 
 
I downloaded the Sun Report Builder and tried again. Sorry have to put details 
just in case I did something stupid.
With BASE - open same JDBC connection to MySQL.
Insert  - new report 
Select table I want to use from the options in box at the right hand side of 
report (same table 8000 rows ish)
report output = text, page setup = landscape
same variables as before.
3 grouping variables(so have 3 boxes on the left side above the details box)
4 variables dragged into details area
did nothing with headers and footers
Has so far been running for 14 minutes...........will be ending the task now. I 
think there could also be some issue with the report builder!
