Although this won't help much: It _is_ possible to link tables using the combination you're using. It works using these versions: $ mysql Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. Your MySQL connection id is 1 to server version: 4.1.22 $ lpkg | grep java javavmwrapper-2.3 mysql-connector-java-5.1.6 $ lpkg | grep jdk diablo-jdk-1.5.0.07.01 $ lpkg | grep ffice de-openoffice.org-2.3.0 de-openoffice.org-3.0.20080330 $ uname -mrs FreeBSD 6.3-STABLE i386 Maybe you have some non-standard design regarding primary keys or something ...
