But, if each document is unique and relatively short, you'll spend more time setting up your styles than just getting your work done. Indeed, one of the drawbacks of using styles is that they take considerable investment of time and effort to create and/or maintain. To me, the investment has been worth it, and I would consider it essential to really good output, but I fully understand when other people say they just want to get their work done without fiddling with the program itself.
