from my retrospection it's a matter of events. When Oracle announced to abandon 
the open source version of SGE, Ron tried to offer a place for the latest 
available free version at Open Grid Scheduler, so that it's not vanishing.

Lateron Dave created Son of Grid Engine to have a place for the sources too, 
and also for the Howtos and the bug tickets.

Then Univa came up with their own version of GridEngine and to open source 
their further development of it.

In former times, the community was also able to add bug tickets at SUN; as we 
don't have this option at Univa I appreciate Dave's efforts (and even if it's 
only to point someone to an already known bug). I'm also willed to put any new 
Howto's there.
